1) Set realistic goals.
2) Use focused listening, i. e. hear the music before playing it.
3) Play their instruments with emotion and imagination.

How often should you change the strings and get the bow rehaired ?
I recommend changing the whole set of strings at least once a year. If the student's hands perspire, change them every six months. I recommend Tonica or Dominant strings for student violins. You can order them through Shar or Ifshin Violins. Buy medium gauge strings, aluminum, with a ball E. Bows should be rehaired once a year.
